Does anyone else find the tone in this article a tad condescending? Of course these are important points, but the "back in my day..." descriptions really irritated me.

Yeah, it was pretty grating. La-di-dah. Anyone who's reading the NY Times probably knows they should be talking/paying attention to their babies n' toddlers.
(My real peeve is the first-time mothers--and it always seems to be them--who WON'T stop talking to their littles ones. Really loud. Nonstop. Just so we can hear what active, enriching parents they are. Oi.)
