RIP, Kirkus

Anybody else bummed out by the demise of Kirkus Reviews? I'm really going to miss their frequently snarky take on books. Yes, half the time I rolled my eyes at what I considered their anal-retentiveness and/or hyper-political-correctness, but agree with them or not, I could always count on Kirkus to have a blunt/sharp angle on things...boring, never. I kinda hope Booklist or HB or somebody steps up to fill the void they'll leave, by sharpening up their reviews and worrying less about offending folks.
This NY Times article sums it up pretty well:

WORD, Mr. Andy! I have a soft spot for snarky reviews. Kirkus's were to be taken with a grain of salt, but they still always gave me something to think about and read like they didn't care if the author read them or not.

I'll miss them, too because it's so important to have a wide variety of opinionated reviewers. I hate reading reviews that are bland and neutral and you don't even know if it's a good book or not.

Is Riley our boss now? I mean, that's fine...she seems like a cool kid :). ANYWAY, I hear Kirkus is being revived and getting a new buyer!
